Gwen Sung

I am a creative leader with 12+ years of experience in the design industry. I believe strongly in leading with empathy and candor. In the past 7+ years, I have been successful in recruiting and coaching top-tier design talent. I am experienced in leading large-scale enterprise platform migrations and in building world-class platform tools. Design systems are my jam. I am currently leading efforts in implementing the design system that will be leveraged across all CNN digital products. To contribute back to the design culture, I organize design crits and learning opportunities within the community.

Me outside of work:

I am a mom to an energetic toddler, a squishy baby and a low-key westie/schnoodle. 

I’m very passionate about teaching kids about our cultural roots! I started Culture Tatertots to help families learn more about the Chinese culture. In 2020, I launched a successful Kickstarter campaign for Culture Tatertot Box, which is a Lunar New Year kids cultural activity box. I published a children's book and designed all the content and packaging for the box. I fulfilled 300+ orders from our family room while 3 months pregnant. Today, CTT continues to provide families with cultural tidbits and activity boxes!
